Beto O’Rourke
O’Rourke represented Texas’ 16th Congressional District in El Paso from 2013 to 2019. He rose to national prominence during his closer-than-expected, though ultimately unsuccessful, challenge of Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018. Despite his defeat, O'Rourke set a record for most votes ever cast for a Democrat in Texas history. In 2019, O’Rourke sought the 2020 Democratic nomination for U.S. President.
