Israel, D-Austin, has represented House District 50 since 2014. She sits on the House Elections and Homeland Security and Public Safety committees. She also serves as vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus and is a member of the House LGBTQ Caucus. Previously, Israel served on the boards of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Alliance for Public Transportation.
Phelan, R-Beaumont, has represented House District 21 since 2015. He serves as chair of the House State Affairs Committee and was appointed to the State Water Infrastructure Fund for Texas Advisory Committee. Phelan was selected as a U.S. foreign delegate to China and Taiwan by the American Council of Young Political Leaders. He currently runs a commercial real estate development firm.
