John Lewis’ life, legacy and more than 60 years of extraordinary activism — from the bold teenager on the front lines of the civil rights movement to the legislative powerhouse he was throughout his career.

Jon Meacham

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author and Historian

Meacham is an author and presidential biographer. He won a Pulitzer Prize for “American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House” in 2009. Previously, Meacham served as executive director at Random House. He is a contributing writer to The New York Times Book Review and the former editor-in-chief of Newsweek. Meacham is the author of “His Truth Is Marching On: John Lewis and the Power of Hope,” published in 2020.

Smith is the CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune. Previously, he spent nearly 18 years at Texas Monthly, including eight years as editor and a year as president and editor-in-chief. Smith also hosts “Overheard with Evan Smith,” airing on PBS stations nationally.
