Maurice Chammah

Chammah is a staff writer at The Marshall Project, a nonprofit news outlet that covers the criminal justice system. His first book, “Let the Lord Sort Them: The Rise and Fall of the Death Penalty,” won the 2019 J. Anthony Lukas Work-In-Progress Book Award and was published in 2021. Chammah’s work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times, Esquire and Mother Jones.
