Sylvester Turner

Turner was elected mayor of Houston in 2015 and reelected in 2019. He is the chair of the Climate Mayors nationwide coalition, advocating for comprehensive climate change policy. Previously, Turner served in the Texas House, representing parts of Houston, for more than 20 years. In the Legislature, he served three terms as speaker pro tem. He has also served on the leadership of the House Appropriations Committee and the Legislative Budget Board.
