We founded The Texas Tribune in 2009 as a nonprofit and nonpartisan news source that aims to improve civic engagement in Texas, to serve the journalism community as a source of innovation, and to encourage discourse on public policy, politics and government. Part of this is done through open-to-the-public conversations and talks featuring elected officials and other newsmakers, dealing with major topics of interest to every Texan.
As an extension of this mission, we created The Texas Tribune Festival to bring together the state’s most prominent thinkers, politicians and public servants for a weekend of debate, discussion and dialogue on the subjects that matter most to all Texans.
Four program tracks will cover the topics that are most relevant to our state and the nation: Energy & Environment, Race & Immigration, Public & Higher Education, and Health & Human Services. The weekend includes exclusive breakfasts, major keynote addresses, lectures and panel discussions.
You'll be able to grab a bite from some of Austin's premier food truck vendors and will have unlimited opportunities to network with your fellow attendees. If you're traveling from out of town, be sure to reserve your hotel room through our housing desk after you register.
