A Conversation With Gov. Rick Perry

James Richard "Rick" Perry, the longest-serving governor in Texas history, was sworn in as the state's 47th chief executive on Dec. 21, 2000, replacing Gov. George W. Bush upon his ascendancy to the White House. Perry was elected to a four-year term in 2002 and re-elected in 2006 and 2010.

A Discussion About the 2012 Presidential Race with Gwen Ifill, Hendrik Hertzberg, Julie Mason and Maggie Haberman

Gwen Ifill is the moderator and managing editor of Washington Week and senior correspondent for PBS NewsHour. Ifill reports on a wide range of issues, from foreign affairs to U.S. politics and policies, covering national and international newsmakers. She has covered six presidential campaigns and has moderated two vice presidential debates.

 

Hendrik Hertzberg is a senior editor and staff writer at The New Yorker, where he frequently writes the opening “Comment” in “The Talk of the Town.” Hertzberg has been a White House speechwriter, an editor at The New Republic and a fellow at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.


 

 

Julie Mason is the host of Sirius XM's "The Press Pool with Julie Mason," a daily inside look at national politics through interviews with top journalists, bloggers and political insiders. Prior to joining Sirius XM, Mason was a White House correspondent at Politico. She has also worked for the Washington Examiner and spent 20 years at the Houston Chronicle

 

 

Maggie Haberman is a senior political writer for Politico. She previously worked at the New York Post, where she covered the 2008 presidential election, along with numerous state, city and congressional races. Haberman also worked at the New York Daily News, where she focused on the rebuilding around the World Trade Center in the aftermath of 9/11.
