Speakers

James Frank

State Representative

Frank, R-Wichita Falls, has represented House District 69 since 2013. He serves as chair of the House Human Services Committee and sits on the Public Health Committee. Frank was recently appointed to the House Select Committee on Statewide Health Care Costs and the Health and Human Services Transition Legislative Oversight Committee.

Senfronia Thompson

State Representative

Thompson, D-Houston, has represented House District 141 since 1973 and is the longest-serving woman and African American in Texas history. She serves as chair of the Public Health Committee and is a member of the Licensing and Administrative Procedures and Redistricting committees. Thompson is a founding member of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and sits on the advisory board of the United Negro College Fund.

Corrie MacLaggan

Managing Editor for The Texas Tribune

MacLaggan is the Tribune’s managing editor. Previously, she worked as a national correspondent for Reuters, where she wrote and edited stories about Texas and nearby states and oversaw a network of freelance writers. Before joining Reuters, she covered Texas government and politics for the Austin American-Statesman. MacLaggan has also worked in Mexico City, where she wrote for publications including the Miami Herald's Mexico edition.
