Rice served as national security advisor to former President Barack Obama and as U.S. permanent representative to the United Nations from 2009 to 2017. Previously, she served as U.S. assistant secretary of state for African affairs, special assistant to the president and senior director for African Affairs. Rice is also author of New York Times best-selling book “Tough Love: My Story of the Things Worth Fighting For.”
