Holder served as the 82nd U.S. attorney general from 2009 to 2015 under former President Barack Obama. Previously, he served as chair of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, a political organization dedicated to redistricting reform through legal action, targeting elections and advocacy. Holder also served as deputy attorney general and U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia under former President Bill Clinton.
