Zahira Torres

Torres serves as a senior editor at ProPublica. Previously, she covered education for the Los Angeles Times and served as the Austin bureau chief for the El Paso Times. In 2013, Torres was awarded the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas’ James Madison award for a yearlong investigation that exposed a school cheating scheme that denied an untold number of public school students a proper education.
