He has been a key advisor to six U.S. presidents on health preparedness initiatives against emerging infectious disease threats such as pandemic influenza and COVID-19. Fauci is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Science and the Mary Woodard Lasker Award for Public Service.
